P7C Beach Party
What a lovely morning we had at our beach party. We are of course sad that it was Asta's last day but I know she will be keeping in touch with us and will be headed for a great time back in Denmark. Thank you to lovely 7C for making today so special. Who knew rolling a coconut at a target or surfing in the middle of a circle to The Beach Boys could be so much fun. The class all gamely pretended that the playground was a beach, and despite the rather cool temperatures that we began with, the sun did come out for us in the end - maybe inspired by our optimism.
After break we were so proud at assembly, of our swimathon winners Automne, William and school record breaker Robert and of Derry who was part of a tournament winning rugby team in Italy.
Back in the classroom, the food was lovely - see the pictures of the ice cream cupcakes made by Jacqui and the beautiful cake baked by our own Rachel, and it was special to finish off with Auld Lang Syne.
We will miss our Amazing Asta.
Thank you 7C for giving her a special send off.

Prisoners of War Workshop 7C
We had a fabulous time on Thursday at Edinburgh Castle learning about what life would have been like for prisoners of war during World War 2. Katie shared with us that a relative of hers was a prisoner of war after being captured at Dunkirk.
We learnt that it was the duty of British soldiers to try and escape and went on to make a crystal radio and to decode messages sent in morse code.

Big Dance Pledge 2014
I was fortunate enough to accompany 14 Primary Sevens to the Mound Precinct to take part in the Big Dance Pledge 2014 along with many other schools, youth groups, dance groups, etc. The boy and girls made a super job of the dance and were a credit to Sciennes. Well done everyone!
Here is the dance:

7B Prisoners of War workshop
We learned about Prisoners of War and about things they used to make crystal radios, then we made our own radios and listened to Winston Churchill speaking.
